Next Tuesday, July 25th at 7:30, there will be a traffic calming meeting to solicit volunteers to go door to door with our traffic calming petition.
We are in the final phase of this process that has taken well over a year. We have over 2500 vehicles that pass through our community everyday. When they did the traffic study, those vehicles (including those of GMP residents) were traveling on an average of 10 miles per hour over the speed limit.
As Loudoun County grows, we are expecting even more traffic. This is phase one. The next phase will be to petition the county for NO thru commercial vehicles, and it is contingent on phase one passing our community. We have also made it a point with the county that if they do build out the compression station, we do not want those trucks using our roads to access the site.
We will need 80% of the community to sign YES on this plan. We had a sign up at the 4th of July but are well short of the numbers we need.
We will be sending people around to talk with you and explain exactly what the plan will be. They will have an information packet as well as pictures of the speed humps so you will be able to make an informed decision.
If we fail to collect the number of signatures, this plan will be dead and we will have to start all over again.
If you would like to volunteer or sign the petition or just get more information on the plan, please stop by the clubhouse at 7:30 next Tuesday.
As you may have noticed, our recycling was not picked up today, Friday, July 7th. The HOA is working with the property manager and the trash collection company to address this issue. We will keep the community updated.
It was wonderful to see the community come together for the July 4th celebrations! As usual, there are quite a few dishes and utensils leftover from the potluck. We have left them outside the door of the clubhouse so you can retrieve them easily. Please pick them up by the end of the weekend!
