New Trash Vendor (Patriot) UPDATED 12/31/2021 - Notice of Key Dates

GMP, we have a new trash vendor (Patriot) in 2022!

We planned for everything to be well coordinated, but life happens and we are doing our best to keep the community updated with the latest information below.

Bates Trucking

Key Dates:

Friday, December 31st - Last pickup from Bates. Do not use Bates, ESI, CSI bins for any trash/recycling after this final pick up

Note: Bates took away any empty bins (Bates, CSI, ESI) today prior to trash pick up. Since most residents bins were full of trash/recycling those were not taken away today.

Saturday, January 8th - Bates planned follow up pick up of bins (Bates, ESI, CSI). This is for any trash/recycling bins not picked up on 12/31.

NOTE ON PICKUP OF OLD BINS: Please see dates above for Bates pick up of trash and recycling bins. As a courtesy, STARTING JANUARY 1st, the clubhouse parking lot can also be used as a temporary drop off of CLEAN bins (trash and recycling) for Bates pickup. This will be limited timing only until Bates final pick up date of January 8th.

Recommendation: Please leave clean empty Bates, CSI, ESI bins curbside to take to the clubhouse parking lot for removal between today and Saturday, January 8th.

Patriot delivered recycling bins to each home.

These bins were NOT the correct size. Please place clean and empty curbside for Patriot to pick up in the next few days.

Mondays, January 3rd & 10th - Christmas Tree pickup

Tuesday, January 4th - 1st trash pick up date for Patriot.
NOTE1: Patriot will be delivering new bins the first week of January. Residents can place trash/recycling bags, boxes curbside until new bins are delivered.

NOTE2: Patriot can not empty Bates (or CSI/ESI) labeled bins, which are to be picked up per dates above.

Please, stage all items at the curb the night before or by 6:00 a.m. on your pickup day. All trash must be placed at the curb in front of your home. Please, do not place rocks, concrete, dirt, soil, sod, tree stumps, construction debris, brick, or landscaping timbers in Yard Waste bags. Collection of these items may be provided for an additional charge.

COUNTY REGULATIONS: The following items will NOT be collected: liquids of any kind, asbestos, ammunition, fuel tanks, hazardous, radioactive, infectious, or medical waste, petroleum contaminated soil, dead animals, manure, dangerous acids, caustics, explosives, or other dangerous material or items too large or too heavy to be loaded safely into the collection vehicles.

RECYCLING: Recyclable materials include newspapers, magazines, catalogs, books, mixed paper, cereal boxes, glass, and similar, flattened cardboard no larger than 4’ x 4’, aluminum and metal food and beverage containers, and plastic bottles, jugs, and containers. The recycling method is “single-stream” which allows for the co-mingling of all recyclable materials in the recycling container.

YARD WASTE: Yard Waste will be collected on Monday. Grass clippings and leaves must be set out for pickup in biodegradable paper bags or in a trash container clearly marked “yard waste” on both sides. Tree limbs and brush must be tied in bundles no longer than 4 feet in length and 6 inches in diameter. Bundles or items that are bagged cannot exceed 50 pounds. Yard waste does not include stumps, rocks, dirt, sod, gravel, mulch, whole trees, or clean-up from storm damage. Collection of these items may be provided for an additional charge.

CHRISTMAS TREE COLLECTION:

  • All tinsel and decorations must be removed, and trees should not be placed in plastic bags.

  • Christmas trees will be collected during the first 2 weeks of January on your usual yard waste collection day.

  • Collection of Christmas trees may be impacted by the national labor shortage; if a tree is placed curbside for collection on yard waste collection day and is not picked up, please advise residents to LEAVE IT OUT at the curb and collection will be completed as soon as possible.

SPECIAL ITEMS: Special items will be collected weekly for a fee. Special items include white goods (appliances), furniture and other large items. Special items that will be collected and recycled include scrap metal (grills, bicycles, swings, chairs), small electronics (computers, monitors, small TVs, small printers, VCRs, DVD/CD players, etc.), motor oil, tires and car batteries. Advance notice is required for the collection of all special items. Please call to schedule a special pickup: 703-257-7100

HOLIDAYS: Service will be provided on all holidays except for Thanksgiving Day, Independence Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. When a designated collection day falls on one of these holidays, service will resume on the next regularly scheduled collection day.

INCLEMENT WEATHER: In the event that inclement weather prevents Patriot Disposal from providing service on a regularly-scheduled collection day, service will resume on the next regularly-scheduled collection day, road conditions permitting.

ROAD CONDITIONS: Patriot Disposal will not provide services for any homes located on roads that are deemed impassable due to construction, construction vehicles, parked cars, or other obstructions or conditions. The annual "Pizza Party" prior to trick-or-treating continues to be a widely attended event, and based on last year's tweaks this year will include some of last year's updates including starting earlier and having the ability to pre-purchase individual pizza(s)!

As far as trick-or-treating, GMP respectfully asks for increased parental supervision to keep it fun and safe for all our children. Please enforce the following with your family:

  • Trick-or-Treat hours of 6p - 8p

  • ONLY approach houses that have front porch lights ON and/or tables set-up in front of the house

Due to many messages of neighbors missing due to travel plans after quite "the year," your GMP HOA wants to simplify the night and THROW A PARTY! C'mon down to join! Have a few guests? Bring them, it's not a problem!

Saturday, July 3rd-

KICK-OFF PARADE AT 5:30PM: Join us at the Clubhouse to kick-off the event with GMP’s annual bike parade!

DINNER 5:30PM – 8PM: Please RSVP (via Google Form below) for active meal count, courtesy of your GMP HOA. Grubbers Food Truck’s pre-boxed meals with an entrée of a hot dog, (cheese)burger or veggie burger and a side of “ribbon chips.” Drinks provided on Clubhouse steps.

DESSERT 6PM – 8PM: Kona of South Riding will serve complimentary shaved ice treats.

FESTIVITIES until 9:15PM: Bring your coolers, frisbees, etc. Gather on the Green with music and friends until it’s time for fireworks.

FIREWORKS 9:15PM: Grab your picnic blanket and head over to the Soccer Field to close out the night!

Sunday, July 4th-

ARCOLA VFD PARADE: Still firming details (12p ET is the target). Our Arcola friends are, too, enjoying the holiday as many of the volunteers are, also, out of town. So, all be it a smaller presence, we’re firming up details for some to joins us! They will wind through the neighborhood. Get out on your (chalk-illustrated and best Patriotic décor-filled) driveway and shout out! Let them know how much we appreciate them!
