Upcoming Tree Work

Working together with several Certified Arborists, the HOA Board and Sentry Management have identified some dead and/or hazardous trees throughout the neighborhood.  Over the next few weeks, you may see or hear tree work taking place, including pruning and removals where necessary for the safety of our families, homes, and properties.  Please rest assured that all removals have been verified by arborists from several different companies to be dead or pose a potential threat to people, homes, or property.  If you have any questions, please email the HOA Board at greenemill@gmail.com.

Some of the tree work will include the ash trees in the neighborhood.  Over the past several years, a pest called the Emerald Ash Borer has made its way into our area.  This pest only attacks live ash trees and once the tree is dead, it moves on to the next host tree.  Treatment is very costly and is usually only administered to specimen trees.  Once you see the symptoms, it is already too late.  Our neighborhood has many ash trees including quite a few on the Village Green.  Some of these trees have already died, and the rest are in decline.  The HOA Board is working with a landscape designer to create a plan for replacement tree species that will provide long term beauty and shade on the Green.  For more information about the Emerald Ash Borer, please follow this link:  http://www.pubs.ext.vt.edu/2904/2904-1290/2904-1290.html.

Important Dates

We have a few upcoming events that residents will want to save the date for:

June 19th - Representatives from Dominion will be at the clubhouse next week to discuss upcoming venting and other issues.  Delegate Randy Minchew and a representative from Supervisor Tony Buffington's office will be present at this meeting.  We are expecting a large turnout for this event.

June 22nd - Representatives from Loudoun County and VDOT will be at the clubhouse to discuss the final traffic calming plan that is planned for our neighborhood and the next steps.  This will include maps and timeline.  They will be available for questions.

July 4th - Details will be coming about our annual Fourth of July Barbecue and how to sign up to volunteer for shifts.  Festivities will begin at 11:00 AM.

July 4th there will also be no trash collection!

Stay tuned for additional details regarding these events.

Pool Update

The HOA and Sentry Management has been working with American Pools and progress is coming along nicely.  Again, please contact Sentry Management if you have any concerns regarding the pool.

In the meantime, please remember that all residents must sign in to use the pool.  This includes unaccompanied minors.  Those who do not sign in to use the pool may be asked to leave.  Signing in to use the pool helps with HOA gauge busy hours and determine the need for additional lifeguards or help.

Finally, if the pool would need to close during normal business hours due to weather or another unforeseen circumstance, the status will be posted on the website under Pool.

Pool Opening

The HOA is currently working with Sentry Management and the new pool contractor, American Pools, on the opening of the pool for Memorial Day Weekend.  Although the pool is technically open today, we do not believe it is up to the standard that it should be.  The HOA performed inspections yesterday and this morning after receiving word that the pool had been prepped for opening.  At that time, we contacted both management companies to express concerns.  The pool had passed Loudoun inspections earlier this week, but due to the rain, we believe it affected the quality of the water.  Please be patient as we work through these issues and we will keep the neighborhood updated.  If you have additional concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us or Sentry Management.
